This thesis introduces MediConnect, a secure and scalable web-based healthcare platform designed to streamline communication and administrative processes between patients and doctors. The system leverages a microservice architecture, with a Spring Boot backend and a responsive frontend built using TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and Mantine UI. MediConnect supports role-based access control, enabling users to register either as patients or doctors, manage their profiles, and schedule or manage appointments seamlessly. JWT-based authentication ensures data security, while an API Gateway centralizes request handling and enforces access control policies. The platform emphasizes modularity, maintainability, and usability, addressing common shortcomings in existing healthcare IT systems, particularly in small to medium-sized practices. MediConnect demonstrates a practical application of modern software development practices in the healthcare domain and serves as a foundation for future enhancements such as real-time communication and cloud deployment.
