This thesis investigates the impact of utilizing Lean management tools to streamline the production process at Bürkle Industries. Two methods were used to analyze the process and collect information about the waste, these methods were MMA and time study. The preliminary results showed that three wastes make up 80% of the total waste, these were transport, motion and waiting time. The Lean tools applied to the process were a 5 whys analysis for each waste and a comprehensive 5S plan and audit system as well as modifying the work cell layout to reduce motion and transport waste. The two analysis methods were conducted again after the application of Lean to measure the current waste percentage. The results showed that the waste percentage has been reduced to approximately half of the initial results and the assembly time was increased to double. This research has proven how effective applying Lean methods is to streamline processes and reduce waste. This thesis not only analyzes waste within the current production process and offers targeted solutions but also presents practical recommendations tailored for Bürkle and unique hand assembly-based industries aiming to streamline their production processes.
