Duckweed is the tiniest flowering plant on the planet, and its growth is extremely adaptive to a broad variety of climatic circumstances. The high protein, carbohydrate, and fat content of duckweeds is well-known. Additionally, they contain a number of beneficial secondary metabolites that can be evolutionarily advantageous. The purpose of this study is to acquaint the greater plant research community with the Lemnaceae family of flowering plants by describing their morphology, development, physiology, and molecular features. Utilizing the rapid progress of analytical tools and the creation of databases for compound identification over the last few decades, the time has come to utilize the duckweed platform to map the complex metabolite network of a whole plant at the systems level.
