    The study analyzed the environmental health impacts of the manganese mining industry. The actively operating Chiatura Manganese mine in Georgia is the subject of the environmental health impacts assessment. The study includes detailed background information about mineral extraction methods, the mining operations together with descriptions of the main environmental impacts connected to mining and related health risks to the population. Primary data is collected from environmental reports, company web pages, and national databases and through personal contact with experts and company representatives.
