    MD Thesis elucidating the current conventional pharmacotherapeutic drugs and protocols for ulcerative colitis disease, with a special focus on the role of smoking and its beneficial effects on clinical symptomatology. Inspired by these findings, investigations into whether nicotine in its various therapeutic formulations could be an efficacious addition into the pharmacologic treatment arsenal for disease management and remission induction in ulcerative colitis is explored.
