Publikáció Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Learnin transformation in universities: ecosystem(s), communities and innovative pedagogiesCiolan, LucianHigher education is undergoing a profound transformation driven by the convergence of institutional reform, digital acceleration, and pedagogical innovation. This paper examines three interconnected dimensions of this shift. First, it explores the evolution of learning ecosystems, where initiatives such as the European University alliances are fostering transnational collaboration and the vision of a "university without walls," while the rapid advancement of digital technologies — particularly Generative AI — is redefining knowledge creation, access, and personalisation. Second, it analyses the transformation of learning communities, as internationalisation, digitally enhanced mobilities, and an openness toward lifelong learning dissolve traditional boundaries between students, educators, and industries, giving rise to dynamic, transdisciplinary communities built on flexible learning structures. Third, it examines how innovative pedagogies — including challenge-based learning, open labs, service learning, and gamification — are reshaping the way students engage with knowledge and real-world challenges, positioning them as co-creators rather than passive recipients of education. Drawing on Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory, the concept of ecosystem literacy, and a dual-cluster framework for pedagogical innovation, the paper argues that authentic transformation requires not only structural and technological change but also a fundamental shift in the identities and practices of educators and learners. By weaving together these transformative forces, the paper offers insights into how universities can reimagine their roles in an era of openness, digital innovation, and interconnectedness.
