    Analysis of the Primary Themes and Symbols in Ernest Miller Hemingway's Masterpiece, The Sun Also Rises

    In my thesis project, I am especially interested in the reason for the decadent lifestyle of Hemingway’s characters and their moral decay. It is also essential to take into consideration the aimlessness of the “Lost Generation,” the theme of life’s meaning; the generational frustration including Jake’s deep psychological frustration and the escapist activities of the generation such as, drinking, debauchery or traveling. “Jake’s purported impotence is a powerful symbol for the emasculated postwar male psyche, and bull-fighting describes sex as warfare on several metaphorical levels” (Internet Source 1). Personally I think Hemingway developed his reputation for addressing issues of gender and sexuality with prevailing themes of masculinity, emasculation, male insecurity and bullfighting. So I would like to be concerned with these themes and symbols as well. In the last but one section of this paper, I will focus on the two most basic components of any human relationship: love and friendship. I also would like to examine the destructive effect of sex, more specifically, the relationship between Jake and Brett. In addition to all these, I will mention some autobiographical elements, the issue of Anti-Semitism, the failure of love, the role of Catholicism and deal with the question who is the code hero in the novel.

    A kockázati tőke nem általános gyógyír

    Szakdolgozatomban arra a kérdésre keresem a választ, hogy miért nem jelent a kockázati tőke általános finanszírozási segítséget a magyar kkv szektorban. A Magyarországon tevékenykedő kis- és középvállalkozások gyakran nyújtanak be pályázatokat ilyen módon történő finanszírozási segítség megszerzése céljából, melynek jelentős része elutasításra kerül.Szakdolgozatomban vizsgálat alá vettem két vállalkozást, az Eno-Pack Kereskedelmi Kft-t, és a Gémtech Kft-t, akik a kockázati tőke programba kerülés révén jelentős gazdasági növekedést tudhatnak magukénak, és már túl vannak a sikeres kiszálláson. A vállalkozások által kötelezően közzétett éves beszámoló adatai segítségével vagyoni, pénzügyi és jövedelmezőségi helyzetre vonatkozó mutatókat számoltam ki. Ezt követően következtetéseket vontam le arra vonatkozóan, hogy miért nem jelent általános finanszírozási segítséget a kockázati tőke, illetve , hogy kiknek érdemes pályázni kockázati tőke megszerzésére.

    Szeged Studies 2000 – 2024. Negyedszázadnyi városkutatás eredményeiből

    The study presents the methodology of the Szeged Studies research series launched by the Department of Sociology of the University of Szeged in 2000 and the opinions of the city's residents on some key social phenomena. The representative survey research, carried out annually for 25 years, explores the social, environmental and security processes of the city in a multidisciplinary approach. The methodology is based on empirical data collection and field research based on face-to-face interviews and surveys (PAPI, CAPI), in which university students play an active role. In our study, we analyse changes in public trust, public safety, migration attitudes and environmental awareness in a longitudinal and cross-sectional approach. Our results show that over the past 25 years, the overall perception of security among the citizens of Szeged has improved, while concerns about climate change have increased. Overall, attitudes towards foreigners have moved towards acceptance, with fluctuations. Levels of trust in institutions are low, except among older and less educated groups, where they are higher. The aim of this series of studies is to explore the complex factors affecting the functioning of local society and to contribute to the practice-oriented development of sociology education.
