Mobilized protein to fat ratio was calculated as 37% on LEHLdiet, 38% both on LELH and HEHL diets whereas 44% in HELL diet.Irrespective of dietary treatments, mobilized body fat contributed more than mobilized body protein to the overall weight loss during lactation. Sows on LELL and LEHL diets mobilized substantial amounts of energy, lysine and nitrogen whereas those on HEHL and HELL apparently retained energy and nitrogen during lactation. It was concluded that two diets feeding strategy has a considerable potential to improve the nutrition of lactating sows by minimizing mobilization of body reserves while maintaining high milk production.
