Tétel Szabadon hozzáférhető 1580 Political Ordinance of the States of Holland and West Friesland(2021-05-28) Haitas, DanielThe present study deals with certain influences the 1580 Political Ordinance of the States of Holland and West Friesland had in the English-speaking world, specifically in relation to the Plymouth Colony in the present-day Commonwealth of Massachusetts and South Africa. Regarding the former, there is a survey of the introduction of the institution of civil marriage by the Pilgrims at the Plymouth Colony and the Dutch background to this particular development. There is a particular focus on legal measures and regulations adopted by England with regards to the traders of the Hanseatic League in the 14th and 15th centuries and Dutch traders in the 17th century. In relation to Scotland, there is an overview of how restrictions enacted by England helped to contribute in part to the Union of 1707, and of some consequences which followed on from this important historical development. More specifically, it looks at English and Scottish connections with the area of Spitsbergen (present-day Svalbard, Norway), focusing on exploration and whaling, as well as competition with European powers. Certain legal issues that subsequently arose over the course of time regarding the area are also looked at. Additionally, it examines modern tensions surrounding Svalbard, between the European Union and Norway in the aftermath of Brexit, specifically due to the allocation of fishing quotas. This illustrates the impact that Brexit has had in various different areas. A két szervezet bizonyos értelemben egymás versenytársa, ugyanis mindkettő igyekszik saját szervezetét vonzóvá tenni az érintett államok számára. Vannak azonban olyan kelet-európai államok, amelyek elköteleződnek amellett, hogy az egyik szervezettel mélyebb együttműködést alakítsanak ki, ugyanakkor megpróbálják a másikkal is fenntartani, sőt akár szorosabbra fűzni kapcsolataikat. Jelen tanulmány célja, hogy ezeket a folyamatokat Örményország és Szerbia példáján mutassa be. Örményország teljes jogú tagként csatlakozott az Eurázsiai Gazdasági Unióhoz, ugyanakkor az Európai Unióval is kapcsolatokat épített ki: 2017-ben átfogó és megerősített partnerségi megállapodást kötöttek. Szerbia ezzel szemben az Európai Unió tagjelölt állama, amely már megkezdte a csatlakozási tárgyalásokat is. Emellett azonban fenntartja szoros kapcsolatait az Eurázsiai Gazdasági Unióval olyannyira, hogy egy szabadkereskedelmi megállapodásról folynak köztük a tárgyalások. Mindkét államra igaz tehát, hogy eredetileg egyértelműen elköteleződtek valamelyik regionális integrációs szervezet irányába, ugyanakkor a másik szervezettel is a kapcsolatok mélyítésére törekednek. A szerző témaválasztásának indoka az a tény, hogy Oroszországot és Ukrajnát rendkívül szoros történelmi szálak fűzik össze, a kettejük kapcsolata ezért meghatározó jelentőséggel bír az Európai Unióhoz fűződő viszonyukat illetően, valamint emiatt az Európai Unió külkapcsolati politikájában is meglehetősen fontos szerepet játszanak. The dissertation explores the European Union’s external relations with both the Russian Federation and Ukraine, incorporating a comparative approach which involves analysing important legal instruments that exist, including the Partnership and Cooperation Agreements and the Association Agreement. This includes an exploration of such European Union external relations initiatives as the European Neighbourhood Policy and the Eastern Partnership. Additionally, the dissertation explores other areas of the European Union’s relations with these two countries, including in the realm of energy. The issue of the European Union’s restrictive measures regime in relation to Russia is also analysed, including cases which have come before the Court of Justice of the European Union dealing with the sanctions.
