    Diabetes mellitus, a metabolic disorder classified into T1DM, T2DM and gestational DM affecting many parts of the body including oral cavity. It has been found that periodontal disease is the most common dental disease that occur in patients with diabetes because of poor blood sugar control. As with all infections, serious gum diseases cause blood sugar to rise thus the patient becomes more susceptible to infections and are less able to fight the bacteria invading the gums.
