    Gout is a systemic disease that results from the deposition of monosodium urate crystals in tissues. Increased serum uric acid above a specific threshold is a requirement for the formation of uric acid crystals. The central cause of gout is deposition of monosodium urate crystals, and the focus of treatment is aimed at crystal dissolution using urate-lowering therapy. This text focus on recent developments in optimizing the use of typical agents.
