    In my essay I tried to collect the major reasons how the English language reached such a position among the world’s languages and how linguists like Kachru, McArthur and Modiano interpreted and classified in models the Englishes of the world. Then I focused on the reasons why some languages get onto a stage where they are called endangered or even extinct, and what steps can be taken to prevent language loss.
