An economic assessment of poultry egg sector in Kosovo
Maloku, Donika; Kovács, Krisztián; DE--Gazdaságtudományi Kar
The study was conducted to analyze the economic statement of the poultry egg production in Kosovo. A sample of 21 poultry egg farmers were selected based on a random selection and data was collected through a semi-structured questionnaire using face-to face interview with farmers in poultry egg production in the territory of Kosovo. The data were analyzed in Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics 23 by using descriptive statistics, cost and returns, and profitability ratios. Egg production has been growing worldwide. Growing occurred more in Asia and slightly in EU. China remains the largest egg producer in the world. The majority of sampled farms are small scale. Poultry egg farms resulted in cost effective and lucrative operating sector. Medium egg farms turned out to be the most profitable among the three sampled farm sizes. Farmers engaged in egg production were not satisfied with market prices, high feed cost, import, shortage of electricity and isolation of the farm. The study recommended that farmers should improve poultry farm buildings, make better management practices, to have more control in supply chain and provide them with low interest loans.

Economic analysis of some agrotechnical factors in maize production - a Hungarian case study
(2019-12-31) Bai, Attila; Gabnai, Zoltán; Kovách, Imre; Czibere, Ibolya; Nagy, János; Sulyok, Dénes; Maloku, Donika; Balogh, Péter
This paper focuses on the economic and statistical evaluation of the production technology findings of the polyfactorial maize production experiments carried out between 2015-2017 at the Látókép Experiment Site of the University of Debrecen, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management. The examined agrotechnical factors included irrigation, previous crop, tillage, crop density, hybrid and N nutrient supply, while the effect of different crop years was taken into consideration. In addition to descriptive statistical methods, we used multivariate regression analysis during the statistical evaluation. In the course of the evaluation, we examined three models that differed in terms of tillage methods and the consideration of crop year. In our best fit model, the factors were 71% responsible for the change in yield value. We carried out efficiency and comparative analyses in the course of the economic evaluation. Averaged over the three examined years, it can be stated that nutrient supply and crop year had an outstanding effect on yield, while irrigation had a minimal effect. However, global warming may justify irrigation in the future, not only from a biological point of view, but also from an economic aspect. Ideal tillage is also greatly affected by crop year, too. Altogether, of the examined tillage systems, subsoiling proved to be the best from an economic point of view. Our investigations confirm that it is better to perform intensive farming under more favourable market conditions. The optimum of N fertilisation is probably outside of the range we examined, if the extreme changes in maize and fertiliser prices are ignored. JEL Classification: Q16, Q12, Q13, O32

Trends in scientific research on precision farming in agriculture using science mapping method
(Akadémiai Kiadó, 2020-11-12) Maloku, Donika; Balogh, Péter; Bai, Attila; Gabnai, Zoltán; Lengyel, Péter; igen
The article highlights the worldwide dissemination of precision agriculture scientific researches published from the period of 1996–2018, data gathered in the Scopus citation database, using the science mapping method. The findings show that there is a constant rise in the number of publications in precision agriculture. The USA is not only leading in the adoption of precision agriculture technologies but also in the publication of papers, accompanied by China placed in second place. The most frequent keywords highlighted the main topics authors concentrated on more, and the national affiliation of most cited papers was the USA. The main prominence and contributions of the results present scientific research trends in precision agriculture in the last two decades, and demonstrate the main countries, authors and organizations who have contributed, and were more productive in this area.
