    Studying the genomic microevolution during adaptation to fluconazole in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    The main objective of this thesis was to analyze the strains of Baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) that acquired resistance following the introduction of antifungal drug stressor Fluconazole. The core of this study was to analyze the genetic microevolution of S. cerevisiae under adaptation to fluconazole stress. With the help of Illumina Sequencing Technology, we were able to isolate and sequence the DNA of the resistant outliers among the yeast colonies. Our study was able to provide useful insights that the phenomenon of aneuploidy is the most sought after in order to adapt to stressful environment.
