Many yeasts can be employed as biocontrol agents in agriculture and biotechnology to combat harmful microorganisms, as they possess natural antagonistic properties that inhibit the growth of pathogenic fungi and bacteria. The strain of Schizosaccharomyces japonicus used in this research was the wild type 7-1 in its yeast and hyphal form.
