    This thesis talks about the leading causes of upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding which is still a commonly encountered problem in medicine. The incidence of gastrointestinal bleeding in various age groups is also shown in this thesis. Various risk scoring systems are also discussed. These serve as guidelines for interventions and risk stratification of patients that present with gastrointestinal bleeding. Most importantly, various therapeutic interventions are discussed in the thesis.
