    What could be a possible biological effect of cannabigerol (compound PFD 45/I) on human renal cell carcinoma cells?

    Cannabigerol (CBG), a compound found in Cannabis Sativa, is relatively less well-researched compared to cannabidiol (CBD). Furthermore, renal cell carcinoma (RCC), one of the most common malignancy in the world, would often develop resistance after months of treatment via targeted therapy. In this thesis, specific RCC cell lines were treated with CBG, as well as a synthesized CBG derivative in order to test its anti-proliferation effect in increasing concentrations . The results showed that the CBG derivative showed a stronger anti-proliferation effect compared to CBG compound, and with further experiments it showed that the cannabinoid receptors 1 and 2 in RCC were involved, as well as PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway based on Western blotting. These results suggest that the CBG derivative could have a potential use in clinical settings in overcoming the resistance of RCC.
