    Bowel obstruction is a fatal abdominal emergency that occurs as a complication to a diverse etiology. A large proportion of which comes from malignancy of the bowel. The obstruction can only be managed by surgical correction. A vast number of guidelines has been generated on how to treat it effectively. This thesis aims to evaluate, from gathered literature, the efficacy of different management options in different settings.

    Bowel obstruction caused by colorectal cancer is always fatal if left untreated. While a consensus on management on the right side is widely accepted, there are still debates about the optimal treatment of choice on left colon obstruction. This thesis aims to identify the advantages and disadvantages of every possible surgical management, from gathered literature and decide whether suitable for different circumstances.
