Az értekezésben olyan témával foglalkozom, amely mind a matematika, mind az informatika tudománya, illetve oktatásának módszertana szempontjából alapvető. A számrendszerekkel kapcsolatos fogalmak, algoritmusok a matematikaoktatásban a számfogalom kialakításához, az informatikaoktatásban a számábrázolás elveinek megértéséhez nélkülözhetetlenek. A kutatásokat az a tény inspirálta, hogy – főiskolai oktatásban szerzett tapasztalataim szerint – a hallgatók jelentős része nem képes a számrendszerek fogalmára épülő tudásanyag elfogadható szintű elsajátítására, feladatokban való magabiztos alkalmazására. Az értekezés célja egyrészt a saját kutatási eredmények bemutatása. A kutatás során azt vizsgáltam, hogy mi lehet a helyi értékes számrendszerekre épülő ismeretek alkalmazása során tapasztalt gyenge hallgatói teljesítmények oka. További céljaim: a témakör oktatásával kapcsolatban fellelhető szakmódszertani megoldások összegyűjtése, rendszerezése, kiegészítése, aktualizálása, a matematika és az informatika szakmódszertani eredmények szintetizálása, ezzel összefüggésben pedig az eredményesség javítását elősegítő módszertani javaslatok kidolgozása.

This thesis focuses on a topic that is fundamental in the fields of mathematics, information science and the methodology of their teaching alike. In mathematics, the concept of positional number systems is an elementary term of numeral notion, similarly to the topic of number representation in information science. Our formal in this field of studies have been inspired by the fact that – in the light of my experience earned in college education – a considerable proportion of students are not able to attain the knowledge based on the above-mentioned notion on an acceptable level and use this knowledge in exercises with confidence. The goal of this thesis is the presentation of the research results revealing the causes of the students’ poor performance that have been witnessed in the course of the application of the information science knowledge based on the concept of positional number systems, as well as the collection, systemization, completion, updating of the specialized methodological solutions that can be identified in relation to teaching the key topic of this subject, the topic of positional number systems; furthermore, the synthesis of the professional methodological implications in the field of mathematics and information science, the elaboration of methodological proposals to facilitate the improvement of efficiency.
