dc.description.abstractBesides the Christian themes, I would like to lay emphasis on the filmic setting, as well. Firstly, I wish to study the features of the Gothic architecture and literature depicted in the film, namely, the representation of the frightening and gruesome atmosphere, the adoption of the supernatural and fantastic elements, the appearance of transgressions, the idea of the sublime and the employment of certain archetypes.
