Pharmacological Options in Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Absztrakt
This title explores the therapeutic options for rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic, systemic auto-immune and inflammatory disorder of the synovium. The mainstay of therapy and disease course has been revolutionized by disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs and biological therapy. Methotrexate is the current first-line agent for long-term management, however many other agents are effective and promising. Short-term pharmacological management is comprised of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents and corticosteroids. Treatment pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, side effects, and regimens are explained in detail.
