Diabetes is a growing epidemic that affects persons of all ages and races. The disease reduces both a person's quality of life and life expectancy and imposes a large economic burden on the health care system and on families. Diabetes has claimed so many lives and caused a lot of disabilities in affected individuals. It is an issue that must be concretely addressed to prevent further cases from occurring. This thesis aims at providing relevant information about diabetes, its prevention, treatment and management by focusing on type 2 diabetes and the pharmaceutical care aspects of its management.
