In this research were considered fundamentals of social responsibility and its implementation as a management tool, as well as the reasons of the necessity of rural development. The study was based on the corporate approach of a sample company to the social responsibility and there was illustrated a wide range of implemented CSR initiatives directly or indirectly impacted the development of local communities (mostly located in rural areas). The study shows that CSR initiatives targeted to improvement of living standards of one group (as workforce) can influence the wellbeing of the local community too and contribute to the development of rural areas in general. Besides, it is clear that the priority demands of regions vary depending on the level of development, but can be adopted to the needs of the specific regions.hu_HU
