This Thesis explores Crohn’s Disease (CD), which is a type of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). It examines major clinically relevant aspects, from its diagnosis to the prognosis and treatment. Key risk factors, such as genetic, environmental and immunological are also highlighted. Emphasis is placed on their biological mediators that are involved in disease development and progression. Diagnostic tools such as endoscopic and histological markers are also mentioned, with some examples being of Crohn’s Disease Activity Index (CDAI) and the Simple Endoscopic Score (SES-CD). Additionally, prognostic indicators and long-term disease outcomes are further examined, together with current treatment strategies ranging from conventional therapies to emerging biological agents. Finally, gaps in the existing literature are identified and future directions for research discussed, with particular emphasis on personalized approach to patient .
