Bildungsroman in the Shadow of Madness in Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca and Alfred Hitchcock's Film Adaptation

Abstract

The question is that are we able to read between the lines, are we able to resolve what is under the surface and are we able to interpret the message of the mad woman? The aim of my thesis is to have a closer look at the novel and the adaptation in terms of womanhood and madness. (Introduction)
