Absztrakt

Energy is an essential factor for social, economic and industrial development. This sector is highly dependent on the use of coal based thermal power plants for production of electricity in Kosovo. The aim of this thesis was to explore the preferences and attitudes of the internet-oriented population and farmers regarding renewable energy sources (RES) in Kosovo. In the research participated 243 internet-oriented participants and 30 farmers, and the data was gathered through questionnaires and deep interviews. The results showed that the awareness of RES was great for three sources (solar, wind and hydro energy), the relationship between them was very strong and most of the respondents had average knowledge regarding them. In addition, the results showed that biomass sources were highly used from both groups, especially wood and wood pellet. Better education, a higher income and environmental-consciousness are definitely advantages when it comes to the knowledge of RES. Furthermore, males had more knowledge about RES compared with females. In terms of occupation, employed participants had better knowledge than unemployed ones. Moreover, the results showed that the participants take into consideration environmental-friendliness rather than convenience when buying renewable energy equipment.
