dc.description.abstractMy thesis, New Strategies in the Treatment of Dyslipidemias, examines both established and emerging approaches to managing lipid disorders that contribute significantly to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. It begins by outlining the epidemiology, classification, and pathophysiology of dyslipidemias, emphasizing their global burden and link to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Current treatment guidelines and pharmacological options, such as statins, ezetimibe, fibrates, and PCSK9 inhibitors, are critically reviewed alongside the importance of lifestyle modifications including diet, exercise, and smoking cessation. The thesis then highlights novel therapies—such as antisense oligonucleotides, bempedoic acid, small interfering RNAs, angiopoietin-like protein inhibitors, and APOC3 inhibitors—that represent promising innovations in lipid management. By integrating traditional and novel approaches, it argues for a more personalized and comprehensive strategy in reducing cardiovascular risk. Ultimately, the work underscores the potential of emerging therapies to transform clinical practice and improve long-term patient outcomes
