Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic inflammatory disease of unknown cause. The hallmark feature of this disease is persistent symmetric polyarthritis most commonly in the small joints of the hands and feet, though any joint in the body can be affected. Without proper treatment it leads to deformity and destruction of joints through the erosion of cartilage and bone and stretching of tendons and ligaments . The goals of pharmacological treatment in rheumatoid arthritis is to minimize symptoms such as pain and swelling, to prevent bone deformity and to maintain day- to-day functioning. In conclusion, the pharmacological therapy of rheumatoid arthritis aims to reduce signs and symptoms of RA and prevent joint damage and disability. NSAIDs and glucocorticoids are often used for a short period to quickly achieve control of signs and symptoms of RA while awaiting a clinical response to a slower-acting disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) .DMARDs ,both biological and non-biological all proved to be an efficient therapy in achieving symptoms relief and most importantly to prevent progression of joint damage and improve physical functioning.hu_HU
