Kate Atkinson is a contemporary writer and she became one of the best-selling British authors. This thesis is about two of her novels, Behind the Scenes at the Museum, and Human Croquet. The main theme is how mothers and fathers are absent in both of the novels and how they are inaccessible for the protagonists. It deals with how the main characters cope with life without the help of the parents.
