dc.description.abstractCutaneous mycoses are very common fungal infections which infect almost all individuals in the world particularly in the tropical areas. Cutaneous mycoses invade only the superficial layers of the skin so the diseases are usually mild, not life-threatening and may only cause some cosmetic problems. Two main types of the diseases are dermatophytoses and cutaneous candidiasis. Treatments for a specific fungal species are based on the clinical and laboratory diagnoses. The goal of treatments is to find the most effective and safest medications with minimal adverse effects and drug interactions. However, this is not an easy task since the clinical pictures may overlap and the emergence of drug-resistant species. Besides those antifungal drugs which have been used for decades, there are many new antimycotics, new formulations and combinations of drugs that are promising for the patient’s benefits. This thesis will concentrate on the dermatological aspects of cutaneous mycoses with basic pharmacology and clinical usage of the applied medications.hu_HU
