Over the years, researchers tried to find the relationship between democracy and economic development. This thesis investigates whether democracy induces growth or not by taking Tunisia as an example. The country is a fledgling democracy after two decades of authoritarian regime rule. The analysis of major economic indicators and human development indicators suggest that there is no correlation between democracy and growth in the short run.
