Treatment of Malaria in Children
Absztrakt
Malaria is a crisis in children, presenting commonly with fever and headache. Currently, Artemisinin Combination Therapy are recommended by the WHO. The use of ACTs are favourable in both uncomplicated and complicated forms of malaria; However complicated malaria should be treated in an intensive care setting to prevent death. Other drugs used are: mefloquine, quinine, antibiotics, primaquine etc. Prevention with nets, insecticides, repellants and chemoprophylaxis especially if travelling to endemic regions is encouraged.
