The thesis aims to look at the status of waste management in Kenya with a focus on hazardous waste. As a member of the United Nations, Kenya subscribes to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, whose aim is the transformation of our world. Within this framework, one of the key waste indicators is the SDG Waste Indicator 12.4.2. This indicator aims to quantify the amount of hazardous waste generated and treated. This is critical to reducing the environmental impacts of hazardous wastes and protecting human health. The main types of hazardous waste discussed within the scope of this thesis include radioactive waste, hazardous healthcare waste, waste electrical and electronic waste and industrial chemical waste . We analyze the status of generation and treatment methods applied in Kenya. A comparison is also done with the situation of hazardous waste management within the European Union.
