Radiopharmaceuticals In The Pediatrics, Special Regards To Diagnostic

Abstract

This thesis reviews the role of diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals in pediatric nuclear medicine. Nuclear medicine gives important functional information for diagnosing conditions in oncology, neurology, cardiology, and renal disease in children. Because children are more sensitive to radiation than adults, radiopharmaceutical selection and dosing must follow the ALARA principle (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). The thesis reviews common tracers, compares EANM, JSNM, and North American guidelines, and highlights evidence of high diagnostic accuracy, while identifying the need for greater standardization across institutions.
