dc.description.abstractThe structure of my thesis reflects a balance between the theory and the applications of Corpus linguistics. I suppose that one cannot gain an insight into the application of a new discipline without having read about its theory. Corpus linguistics, being a relatively new research area, is mostly an unknown territory for language teachers. First, my aim is to highlight the development and achievements of corpus linguistics. The second part of my thesis introduces the reader into the possible applications of the achievements of corpus linguistics in secondary education. In order to prove the success of the method chosen, I tried it with one of my classes and gave a thorough evaluation. The aim of the thesis is to make language teachers realize how effective, challenging and motivating a corpus-based task can be for students living in the 21st century.hu_HU
