In my thesis I will explore the religious differences and similarities between Christianity and Islam and explain why these are so important to be understood before defining cultural, political, and economic differences between East and West. I believe that the West, which has secularised its religion and globalised its traditions purposefully, depicts a distorted and false image about the East which is still cherishing its religious and traditional values. This image than condenses into communal consciousness and sticks with the masses, becoming the soil for further misconceptions and generalisations which will undermine international relationships at the social level (no one wants to befriend a religious zealot terrorist after all). My goal is to explain the source(s) of disagreements on both sides (East and West) and provide another approach to the study of cultural “clashes” with my interpretation.hu_HU
