dc.description.abstractThe focal point of my thesis is to point out the benefits of healing with a christian background. The presupposition is based on the common origin and goal of psychology and religion: the human heart and soul, which incorporate the most intimate and original feelings towards the transcendent (called God by christians) and the Self of an individual. It is worth mentioning that many psychologists or psychotherapists have a religious family background and it seems to be quite natural for them to combine laic and christian way of thinking in their practices like BAGDY, JUNG and SCHWEITZER have done.To depict what a perfect mentalhygienic approach and the embodiment of an efficient healer means for me I take Jesus’ way of communication, empathy, attention, acceptance and unconditioned love as they are exemplary for me. I have analyzed some healing scenes of the Gospels to give an insight into Jesus’ methods and I have also provided other case descriptions to underline how much christian faith can mean in a critical situation including my own recovery, which has greatly motivated me much to become a helper myself. To illustrate the relevancy of such an approach, I refer to some outstanding present day representatives such as PECK, WORTHINGTON or CSÓKAY.hu_HU
