Febrile seizure is the most prevalent neurological event in the childhood population, which can affect 2-5% of children of 3 months and 5 years of age. Although it is a benign seizure with favorable outcome, it is indeed a frightening event to parents and guardians of children, and one of the most popular causes of arrival at pediatric ED worldwide. Therefore, it is essential for not only pediatricians but also family doctors and internists to be able to recognize FS, differentiate it from more severe convulsions (i.e., CNS infections or Dravet syndrome), and give appropriate emergency care.
