The oral mucosa is a multifacted tissue that secretes chemicals, safeguards underlying tissues, and amplifies the feeling of temperature, touch, pain, and taste. It is covered by stratified squamous epithelium and can be categorized as acute or chronic wounds. Wound healing may proceed by primary or secondary intention. Factors influencing wound healing encompass age, diabetes, nutritional status, and infections. Oral wound treatment encompasses washing, debridement, hemostasis, tetanus prophylaxis, antibiotic administration, and wound closure.
