Histone deacetylase inhibitors are powerful epigenetic modifiers, altering gene expression and on a larger aspect, the fate of individual cells. The Food and Drugs Administration has approved the use of four new HDIs, bringing about a revolutionary dawn in modern day clinical oncology. This thesis focuses on; HDAC roles in tumour propagation, properties of HDIs and novel HDI drugs.
