Pharmacological Management of Open Angle Glaucoma
Absztrakt
The management of open angle glaucoma hinges on delaying optic nerve damage by maintaining low values of intraocular pressure. This can be achieved with the use of lasers, surgical techniques, or by way of pharmacotherapy. Pharmacological treatments were introduced as early as the 19th century and have been expanded and refined over the years, while surgical and laser treatments are much more recent developments. In this thesis, several treatment options will be presented. Different types of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment will be described expressing their efficacy, adverse effects and safety.
