This literature review is an overview of articles that focus on the impacts of social media on mental health in Europe between the time period 2017-2021. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this is the first study to focus on articles conducted in Europe.This research contributes to the existing literature in a way of providing evidence for the effects of social media on mental health not only based on time spend on social media but we also need to consider the quality of social media’s contents people see on the internet, why and how people use social media on a daily basic. Besides that, the literature review also highlighted some minorities community, occupations, some genders are more prone to mental health illness than the rest. Furthermore, the important of investigating how social media effects mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic are also mentioned in the review.
