In this thesis the use and effectiveness of the new treatment modality of Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy, HIPEC, in ovarian cancer, especially in recurrent ovarian cancer is explored. With this treatment approach the chemotherapy solution is heated up and administered intraperitoneally straight after cytoreductive surgery before closure. Recent studies have shown an increase in overall survival of patients compared to the standard treatment.
