Opioids are one of the world's most common prescriptions to help alleviate pain, post-surgery pain and palliative care. With the increase of opioid use and prescription availability there is also a surge of abuse with the drugs. Depending on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamic of the drug used, interaction with other opioids and the recurrence of drug administration there can be unfavourable side effects and potential death.
