This study evaluated the effects of dietary ginger supplementation on dyspeptic symptoms, quality of life, and body composition among patients with functional dyspepsia. An 8-week open-label clinical trial demonstrated that ginger supplementation significantly reduced overall dyspeptic symptom severity and improved daily functioning, as measured by the Nepean Dyspepsia Index. Participants reported notable improvements in eating comfort, daily activities, and work performance. However, ginger supplementation did not result in significant changes in body mass index, body fat percentage, or overall body weight during the study period. The intervention was generally well tolerated, with only mild and transient gastrointestinal side effects reported. These findings suggest that ginger may serve as a safe and effective complementary therapy for symptom management in functional dyspepsia, though longer and controlled trials are warranted to assess its effects on body composition.
