During her reign, Queen Elizabeth I achieved what only very few fellow women rulers could. She not only created the balance of power in England, but stabilized religion, raised England among the great powers, and created wealth and welfare. These are the reasons why her role as a queen was important. However we can see her from a different perspective that is the perspective of a woman. From that viewpoint she is just as interesting and important to analyse. Throughout the history of Europe, there had not been many women who could rise above the patriarchal system and rule without a king successfully, but in England she was definitely the only one until then. The subject areas which are worth looking at are religion, diplomacy, personal life, family relations, foreign policy, and gender roles as such, because as a woman, Elizabeth proved to be prominent in these matters.
