AF (atrial fibrillation) is one of the most common cardiac diseases seen in the hospital. It is considered a high risk factor for stroke and can leads to life threatening arrhythmias. It is an obligation upon each and every physician to be familiar with this cardiac arrhythmia in order to decrease morbidity and mortality. Pharmacotherapy is used as an essential therapy for cessation of AF and to prevent the thromboembolic complications. This thesis attempts to shed light on the different pharmacotherapy available for this particular disease namely rate control drugs: BB (beta blocker), CCB (calcium channel blocker) and digoxin, rhythm control drugs: class I c, class III and multichannel blocker and anticoagulation drugs: NOAC (New oral Anticoagulation drugs) and VKA (vitamin K antagonists)
