Obesity and overweight are complex diseases affecting approximately two thirds of the global population. It is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in first-world countries and is also becoming increasingly prevalent in the developing world. This thesis focuses on the background of obesity, risk factors, the role of some adipokines in obesity, diagnosis, and treatment.
