This paper responds to the call for critical analysis of one of the most up-to-date topics in Central and Eastern Europe, namely the Ukrainian crisis. Hence, the subject matter of the thesis is the critical analysis of Western and Russian news on Ukrainian demonstrations published between December, 2013–March, 2014. The topicality of the research focus is not only derived from its timeliness, but it is also related to its nature since the Ukrainian crisis is a potential decisive topic that has engaged Western and Eastern media sources. For this reason we will compare and contrast a number of selected news items reported by the Western and Russian sources.hu_HU
