dc.description.abstractGastrointestinal diseases develop as a result of abnormalities that occur within or outside of the gut and they range in severity from those that produce mild symptoms to those with intractable symptoms or even death, these diseases may be localized to one organ or exhibit diffuse involvement at many sites. Gastrointestinal Cancers are divided into:-1-)Upper GI Cancers which include malignancies arising in the esophagus, stomach, and small intestine.2-)Lower GI Cancers which include malignant tumors of the colon, rectum, and anus. Cancer of the large bowel or Colon Cancer or also known as Colorectal Cancer is the second most common death causing cancer in the United States being just second to lung Cancer. Thanks to different treatment modalities such as surgery, radiation therapy and Chemotherapy (Pharmacological Therapy)-which includes several drugs used as a single drug or more commonly used in combinations in order to treat or in some cases for “cure”, the incidence rate of CRC has decreased significantly during the past 25 years, in addition to higher overall survival rates and better quality of life of the diseased people.hu_HU
